The following guide will walk you through the process of utilising Android Enterprise to set up policies and manage devices in FOUR MDM.
Before starting, make sure you have connected FOUR MDM to Android Enterprise.
Setting up policies
- Create a new policy: In the sidebar, navigate to MDM > Android Policies, and click New.
- Refine the policy to suit your use case: Android Enterprise provides extensive options to control how your devices can be used. While some features are enabled by default, you should review the available options and tweak your policy to suit your needs.
Note: Several features in Android Enterprise management may not be compatible with older versions of Android, or may be incompatible with certain management modes. Before rolling out a policy to multiple devices, you should always test on similar devices to ensure it will meet your needs.
Provisioning devices
When provisioning new devices, several management modes are available, called solution sets. Each has their own advantages, and are suited to different use cases. If you are unsure which solution set is right for you, let us know — our team is trained to help with exactly these problems!
You can read more about solution sets here.
- Create a new device: In the sidebar, navigate to MDM > Android Devices, and click New. You may also create a new device directly from an existing policy.
- Enrol your device: If your device is company owned, start from factory reset. Tap the screen six times in the same spot. You will be prompted to either scan a QR code, or to enter an enrolment code. Use the details provided on your new device record to complete enrolment. If your device is not company owned, you should distribute the provided enrolment URL to your intended recipient.
- Complete provisioning: Finish the setup wizard on the device to complete enrolment. The device record in MDM should update to include new information.
Having trouble during setup? Enrolment can fail in certain circumstances, such as poor network connectivity, or your device being incompatible with Android Enterprise. If prompted, try again. If you're still experiencing issues, get in touch, and we can assist further.
