This guide walks you through how to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) to help protect your user account with an extra layer of security.
When MFA is required by your organisation, you will need to have it set up to access the Platform.
Learn more: If you lose access to your authenticator app and backup codes, contact our Support team at support@four.io for MFA assistance.
Setting up user account MFA
- Log in to the FOUR Platform.
- The MFA setup is done in the user portal.
- If MFA is required for your account, it will take you to the user portal by default.
- Otherwise, you can access it by opening the sidebar, selecting the cog, then User Portal.
- At the top of the user portal screen, click the "Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication" button.
- Scan the QR code: You will be shown a generated QR code. Scan this with your preferred authenticator application (such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator).
- Save backup codes: Securely store the provided once-off backup authentication codes, which can be used to sign in at a later date if needed. Click Next.
Verifying MFA setup
- Enter the code: In your authenticator app, a six-digit number will be generated. Enter this code into the prompt to finalise your MFA setup and click Verify.
- Confirmation: If successful, you will receive a message indicating MFA has been successfully set up, and you will be redirected to the login page.
Logging in with MFA
- Sign in again: Log in with your web credentials. You will be prompted to provide an authentication code from your app or a backup code.
- Trust device: You may check the box to trust the current device for seven days, after which you will need to log in with the authenticator application once again.
